5 reasons why you Should And Shouldn't buy a BlackBerry
Do you like this story?
Everybody wants, if not needs, a smartphone these days. But today's market offers such a plethora of choices that it can be overwhelming. It can be especially difficult to tell which devices fit with which type of people and their specific criteria. Here are 5 reasons why you might want one of RIM's BlackBerries, and 5 reasons why you might not.
5 reasons why you should buy a BlackBerry
1. Because it’s a BlackBerry
Android smartphones may be outselling the iPhone but many people still don’t know what they are. Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 7 OS shows promise, especially now that Nokia will be building handsets that use it, but right now it is seriously lacking in brand perception and credibility. As for manufacturers, devices from companies like Nokia and Sony Ericsson demand some respect but some others do not.
But there’s still some kudos to be earned when you own a BlackBerry, especially one of the higher-spec models. It remains a highly respected brand name and one of the most influential players in the market, not to mention the fact that the Blackberry (alongside Windows Mobile 7 and Symbian to a less degree) pretty much created the smartphone market many years ago.
2. A Good Choice of Devices on Different Carriers
Unlike the iPhone which is currently only sold in two expensive variants on a limited lumber of carriers, there are several BlackBerry smartphones for a range of budgets and at least one will probably be available on your carrier of choice.
The BlackBerry Pearl is the entry-level range and can be bought in either WiFi or 3G versions with prices starting from little more than Rs 5,000. Next is the BlackBerry Curve range, also in WiFi and 3G versions, which add bigger screens and proper QWERTY keypads, and for larger budgets there’s the high-spec Bold and Torch devices, with the latter featuring a touhscreen display.
3. Brilliant Battery Life
Battery life is a problem with most smartphones, with daily recharges a reality for most people who use them. But BlackBerry smartphones are different and even users who are making several phone calls each day and regularly accessing their emails and surfing the Web can still expect to go 2-3 days without needing to recharge the battery.
And standby time is brilliant as well. Compared to the iPhone 4 which has a quoted standby time of up to 300 hours, the high-spec BlackBerry Bold 9780 can last up to 528 hours on standbuy.
4. Media Sync
Music, photos and videos can all be synced from your computer (PC or Mac) to your BlackBerry and the latest BlackBerry Torch smartphone can even do this wirelessly. You can even sync music from iTunes or Windows Media Player.
In fact, apart from the iPhone, Blackberry devices are the only smartphones that can officially sync with iTunes.
5. Outstanding Mail and Messaging Capabilities
BlackBerry is synonymous with mobile email and so it’s no surprise that it handles emails better than any other smartphone. Memory permitting, there’s no limit to how many emails that can be stored on a BlackBerry and it supports push notifications, folders, threaded conversations and more. And it’s super quick at delivering the latest emails to you.
BlackBerry Messenger is an instant messaging app integrated into every BlackBerry. Better than texting, it allows users to quickly share text messages, photos and videos with anyone else who’s BBM PIN they know.
And most BlackBerry smartphones have a great QWERTY keyboard that makes sending emails and instant messages even easier and more enjoyable.
There’s a BlackBerry Smartphone for Everyone
5 reasons why you shouldn’t buy a BlackBerry
1. You like apps
The iPhone is estimated to have well over 3.5 lakh and android claims of 2.5 lakh apps and growing daily. BlackBerry has roughly 5% of that. If you want to play hundreds of games, and goof off with silly and fun apps, the BlackBerry isn’t going to do it for you, but the Apple and android counterpart will
2. You like capable operating systems
Android is a full-fledged computer operating system, converted to use on Smartphone. The BlackBerry OS is a lot less; it’s clumsy, limited, and generally inferior. Competitors feel more like miniature computers, music players, portable gaming machines and phones combined—the BlackBerry tends to feel like a mobile email device and little else.
3. You want a modern UI
If you are somebody who places a high level of value on aesthetics, you may want to reconsider purchasing a BlackBerry. As mentioned before, the BlackBerry is designed to function and operate smoothly—even at the cost of flashy graphics.
4. You want something fresh
the apple and google products, boasts a modern sleekness that makes the RIM’s devices look ancient.
android is filled with such customization possibilities that makes a blackberry user wonder
5.Not Suitable For All Ages
Well, the phone is so professionally made, that majority of teenagers and normal working class people concluded that it was too expensive to pursue and secondly it did not offer anything different or fun filled for the mass users of mobile phones users today. People knew they could get better enriched phones that would have much more facilities under a lower cost and what would suit their age. The phone is not meant for use by regular people and does not match up with the age limit of using a Blackberry
