Apple Unveils new iMac with quad-core processors and Thunderbolt I/O

Apple has now updated its iMac all-in-one desktop computer line up with Intel's next generation quad-core processors, better graphics, the Thunderbolt I/O technology and the new FaceTime HD camera. Apple claims that the new iMac has 70 percent faster and improved graphics capability by using the new AMD Radeon HD graphics processor. The upgrade includes the new Intel Core i5 and Core i7 quad-core processors with up to 3.4GHz of processing power.
The new Thunderbolt port which we also saw on the new MacBook Pro line-up promises transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps and it also supports other input options including – USB, Ethernet, FireWire and DisplayPort by the help of additional adapters and it also works with available adapters for VGA, DVI and HDMI displays. The 21.5-inch iMac will include a single Thunderbolt port while the 27-inch iMac will come with two Thunderbolt ports.
The new iMacs come in the same aluminum and glass design and the IPS backlit-LED high resolution display which we saw on the previous model. Bundled with the iMac would be Apple’s Magic Trackpad or the Magic Mouse. The iMac runs Mac OS X Snow Leopard and iLife, which allows users to sharre photos, music and videos with their buddies.
The 21.5-inch iMac has two variations – the first one is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, 500GB HDD, AMD Radeon HD 6750M and would be priced at Rs. 64,900 including taxes; the second version will be powered by a 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, 1TG HDD and the AMD Radeon HD 6770M it would be priced at Rs. 79,900 including taxes.
The 26-inch iMac will also include two variations – the first one comes with a 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processo, 1TB HDD and AMD Radeon 6770M, it would be priced at Rs. 91,900 including taxes; while the second one will be powered by a 3.1GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with a 1TB of HDD and AMD Radeon HD 6970M graphics, it would be priced at Rs. 107,900 including taxes.
Further you can additionally configure the systems to come with Intel Core i7 up to 3.4GHz, up to 256GB of SSD and additional DDR3 memory. Users can also opt-in for AppleCare, which is a protection plan for Mac computers. The new Apple iMac will be available through all Apple authorized resellers in India.
