RIM unveils BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 with new BlackBerry 7 OS

At the BlackBerry World 2011, Research in Motion (RIM) officially announced two new latest BlackBerry smartphones - the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and the Bold 9300. Both the devices are the thinnest and the most powerful BlackBerry devices yet. They will run the new BlackBerry 7 OS and will feature a touchscreen along with the traditional BlackBerry keypad.
Both include a 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreens with a 640 x 480 287dpi resolution, they are 10.5mm thick, feature the famous full-QWERTY keypad, optical trackpad, a 1.2GHz processor and they are also equipped with 768MB of RAM. Furthermore, the devices include 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded using a microSD card.
Expected to go on sale globally sometime in summer, the devices also come with a 5 megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording capabilities, it includes Wi-Fi b/g/n at 2.4GHz band and a/n at a 5GHz band. Bundled with all this is Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and GPS/A-GPS capabilities. The Bold 9900 is a triband HSPA+ device with dualband GSM/EDGE for EDGE carriers, while the Bold 9930 is a dualband CDMA/EVDO Rev.A along with dualband HSPA+ and quadband GSM/EDGE for CDMA carries who offer world phones to their subscribers. The device comes with an NFC chip, accelerometer, proximity sensor, digital compass and a 1230 mAh battery.
The new BlackBerry 7 OS comes with a much capable browser with the new JIT (Just-In-Time) JavaScript compiler, this would help the device render web pages at a better speed. It also includes HTML5 video support and BlackBerry Balance which allows users to separate their personal content from their business content, and prevents personal apps from accessing business data, remote wipe capabilities and a few other features over regular BlackBerry features.
The pricing is yet unknown, but we will keep you updated once Research in Motion makes the announcement.
